Surely, Mass Effect Andromeda is going to be a title that goes down in history, sadly for all the wrong reasons. With EA allowing players early access to the game, at a time when it was rife with visual complications that can only be described as hilariously bad, it set what was considered the most highly anticipated title of the respective year up for a terrible launch. What’s more, it’s one that it has struggled to recover from ever since.

Nevertheless, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for those who are holding on to the hopes of improvement, there has been a new patch released for the title. You can find the patch notes of what improvements and changes have been made just below:

Is A New Crash Bandicoot Game in The Works?

    Crash Bandicoot

Following the success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, which sold over two million copies, it wouldn’t be too surprising to hear that Activision are working on a new Crash game. The recent rumor broke when fans spotted the ‘Spring 2018 issues of Licensing Source Book Europe,’ though nothing has actually been confirmed by Activision as of yet.

GB Eye manager Max Arguile has shed some light on what fans can expect from the franchise going forward:

“The new game was a huge success at retail with no marketing spend. Next year it will be going broader (Switch and PC) and there will be another game in 2019. Activision has a five-year plan for this and GB Eye is delighted to be fully on board for all products.”

PREVIEW SCREENSHOT9 133212 - Is A New Crash Bandicoot Game in The Works?

The revival of Crash was something that had been heavily requested by many fans for a number of years. Now that he’s back, it would make perfect sense for Activision to continue going forward with what has proven to be an extremely popular return.

What’s more, it could be good news for Switch and PC owners, who could well be seeing the N. Sane trilogy on their platforms at some point. There isn’t too much validity to these rumors mind, with many calling the leaks that have taken place as of late to be fake.

Super Smash Bros To Be Announced For Nintendo Switch?

    Super Smash Bros

Industry insider Emily Rogers, who is renowned for leaking information on all things Nintendo, has recently been discussing a Switch port of Super Smash Bros. It is worth noting that she is known for giving those who listen a warning to take rumors at face value, and anything said is subject to change.

Emily has mentioned a Smash port previously, stating that it was planned to be a year one release. We have heard very little since, though recently the topic of the port came up on a forum post, where she commented that a port isn’t far away.
    The first post states:

“I don’t think Smash Bros will be a straight simple port. They will probably position this as the “Ultimate version of Smash Bros”. Anyways, we won’t have to wait too long to hear about it.”

2716228 smashbroswiiu254 - Super Smash Bros To Be Announced For Nintendo Switch?

Upon being asked about when, Emily replied:

“Nah, I’m just saying you’ll hear about it either before or by E3.”

Again, it has to be stressed that this is just a rumor, though it’s a pretty plausible one given that you can’t image Nintendo leaving Super Smash Bros off the new console. The same goes for other franchises such as Animal Crossing among many more, so there is bound to be more news on this soon.

1440p Resolution Support Coming Soon to Xbox One S and X

    Resolution

Kevin Gammill, Microsoft’s Xbox Partner Group Program Manager, has confirmed that 1440p support will soon be arriving for players who are members of the Xbox One preview program. The 1440p resolution is most certainly a popular one in the industry, particularly for those who use high-end gaming screens.

Gammill confirmed back in November that support for the aforementioned resolution would be making its way onto the Xbox One X, though his latest tweet seems to suggest that it will also be available on Xbox One S.

    DCE78gRXYAAPYAw 1 - 1440p Resolution Support Coming Soon to Xbox One S and X

    The tweet reads:

“Many questions recently around the timing of our 1440p support. Those of you in our early preview ring should be pleasantly surprised very soon if you have an Xbox One S or Xbox One X.”

Members in the Xbox preview program will be the first to check out this supported resolution, though it will be available eventually for all Xbox players in the future. It will be interesting to see how this looks on the console, especially on Xbox One S, of who’s inclusion will have perhaps come as a surprise for a few people. Nevertheless, two members of the Xbox family will see these upgrades, hopefully sooner than we think.

Dark Souls: The Age of Fire Comic Set For Release in May

    Dark Souls

Titan Comics has announced that they will be released Dark Souls: The Age of Fire, which will be a four-issue mini-series featuring the main characters from the popular game. The story will apparently be a “dramatic retelling of the Legends of Silver Knights.” This series will coincide with the release of Dark Souls Remastered, which is also due in May.

Dark Souls: The Age of Fire is written by Ryan O’Sullivan, who has worked on the likes of Turncoat, Eisenhorn, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and The Evil Within in a writing capacity in the past. More recently, O’Sullivan has written a comic book series entitled Void Trip, which tells the story of the last two humans alive in the galaxy, known as Ana and Gabe.

A description on fextralife of the upcoming mini-series:

In the Age of Fire, the Silver Knights served under Lord Gwyn‘s command. This ended dramatically when Lord Gwyn and some of the Silver Knights traveled to the Kiln of the First Flame. They were trying to link the flame but it ended in disaster. All of the Silver Knights who went with Lord Gwyn were charred by the flame, which resulted in them being transformed into Black Knights.

System Shock Reboot Put on Hold After Team Loses ‘Focus’

    System Shock

System Shock was arguably one of the most genre-defining games in history. The 1994 release offered a combination of RPG elements with immersive action gaming, something which has influenced titles that we know and love today such as DeusEx, BioShock and others. As you may have heard, System Shock is being remade for PC and consoles, though the development team appears to have hit a bit of a snag.

The project was delayed from 2017 to Q2 2018, which was already a bad sign, but there was further worry when the team decided to switch engine from Unity to Unreal. And now, Nightdive Studios’ CEO Stephen Kick has released a lengthy statement on the current state of development, an excerpt of which reads:

In June of 2016 we launched a Kickstarter campaign to make the vision into a reality. It was tremendously successful with over 21,000 backers contributing over $1.3 million to the campaign. We put together a development team and began working on the game. But along the way something happened.

Maybe we were too successful. Maybe we lost our focus. The vision began to change. We moved from a Remaster to a completely new game. We shifted engines from Unity to Unreal, a choice that we don’t regret and one that has worked out for us. With the switch we began envisioning doing more, but straying from the core concepts of the original title.

The statement continues to reassure fans that the project isn’t cancelled, and they will be picking it up in the future:

I have put the team on a hiatus while we reassess our path so that we can return to our vision. We are taking a break, but NOT ending the project. Please accept my personal assurance that we will be back and stronger than ever. System Shock is going to be completed and all of our promises fulfilled.

Deep Rock Galactic Arrives on Xbox One Game Preview This Month

Upcoming Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive Deep Rock Galactic has had a release date revealed for it, and along with it a brand new trailer.

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, this bearded brainchild comes from a team of industry mainstays from studios such as Ubisoft, IO Interactive, Deadline Games and Press Play. From this, Ghost Ship Games was created back in 2016, with the studio setting out to create a co-op experience in an unnatural setting to keep players engaged.

Mikkel Martin Pedersen, Co-founder & Game Director at Ghost Ship Games, stated on the official Xbox website:

Deep Rock Galactic is our first title and encapsulates the game we’ve always dreamt of making – a co-op first space mining FPS, with dwarves! To make our lives even more difficult, we decided to go with procedurally generated, fully destructible caves to make every mission a gleefully chaotic surprise. We’ve had a blast developing the game so far, and can’t wait to hear more from the Xbox community when we launch on Xbox Game Preview later this month.

Deep Rock Galactic will arrive on Xbox Game Preview on February 28th, and will be enhanced with improved resolution and HDR on Xbox One X. The game also supports Xbox Play

    Kirby

Kirby Star Allies is the first title of the franchise to arrive on Nintendo Switch, which sees the delightful protagonist turning enemies into friends in order to help save Planet Popstar. This is something that Nintendo want to encourage at Emerald City Comic Con, in order to spread acts of kindness throughout.

Nintendo representatives will be scaling Emerald City Comic Con on March 1-4 to rewards fans who perform random acts of kindness for others. If a member of the team manages to spot a Comic Con attendee doing something kind, which can range from picking up litter to holding the door for someone, then that person will have a chance to earn a range of Kirby themed items.

The teams will also be hanging around those waiting in line to allow fans the chance to play Kirby Star Allies in Handheld mode. You can also catch the game in TV Mode at the Nintendo booth.

Cindy Gordon, Vice President of Strategic Communications at Nintendo of America, stated:

“Many of our classic characters are heroes in numerous ways, but Kirby epitomizes what it’s like to be powerful, but also kind. While we love bringing our games directly to fans at events like this, we wanted to do something a little different this time to show that teamwork and kindness are two of the most powerful forces around.”

CD Projekt Red Discuss Loot Box Controversy

    Cyberpunk 2077

One of the most heated debates in video gaming surrounds loot boxes, which have made a huge, controversial impact on the industry that has led to mass backlash from fans of the respective titles.
In turn, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski revealed that the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077 will feature online elements, which obviously raised concerns about loot boxes and if they would play a part in the highly anticipated title.

When asked in an interview with PC Gamer about the “conversation” that has dominated gaming over the past year or so, co-founder Marcin Iwinski responded:

‘Conversation’ sounds way too nice to describe what was happening last year. I would rather call it community backlash. And this time around, it wasn’t just the hardcore community, there were a lot of really pissed off gamers out there and they decided to speak up. Where we stand is quite simple and you could see it with all of our past releases—most recently The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and GWENT. If you buy a full priced game, you should get a big, polished piece of content, which gives you many, many hours of fun gameplay.

1920x1200 Art - CD Projekt Red Discuss Loot Box Controversy

Iwinski continued to explain the importance of keeping gamers happy with a lengthy title free of microtransactions:

The definition of ‘many’ may vary on a title-by-title basis, but in our case it was always 50-60+ hours of the main story-line, with up to a couple of hundred of hours of side activities—if you really wanted to max out the title. To me, this is a fair deal. You get what you paid for, plus we are always trying our best to overdeliver. There is no better PR than a happy gamer recommending your title to their friends.

Let’s hope there is some more news on Cyberpunk 2077 soon, as CD Projekt Red continue to raise the bar in keeping fans happy and excited.

The Incredibles 2 Gets First Trailer

Disney and Pixar have made a slew of amazing films over the years, and many of them have been praised for a variety of reasons. One of the most popular though that has really grown its fan base was The Incredibles. A story about a family of superheroes set in a world where being a superhero is outlawed. The film put a lot of twists on the classic superhero story, and it resonated with a lot of people. Yet, it never got a sequel, until this year that is.

The Incredibles 2 literally picks up where the last one left off, and we get to see that in the first official trailer or “sneak peek” for the film. But what’s better, is that we get more context into what the film is about. Turns out, their battles with Syndrome and his robot, as well as The Underminer has been turning heads, and one guy wants to bring the Supers (the name of the group of former heroes) back “into the spotlight”. And to do that…he wants Elastigirl to lead the charge.

So, where does this leave Mr. Incredible? Well, he’s left watching over the kids, which is a great role-reversal from the previous film, as Elastigirl was very much a homekeeper while Mr. Incredible was off on his own adventures. So now, he’s the homekeeper, and the trailer hilarious shows how hard that is for him, yet, he’s trying to be supportive, because he knows that if she succeeds, the Supers could come back into the light. He just has to survive his children.

Pretty much all of the original voice cast from the first film are back, with the exception of the voice for Dash. This includes Samuel L. Jackson as returning friend and Super, Frozone.

The Incredibles 2 will hit theaters on June 15th.

New Ready Player One Trailer Arrives

There are a lot of big movies coming out this year, and many are going to be visual spectacles of sorts. But arguably one of the most visual movies you can see this year is Ready Player One. This film is set in both the real world and a virtual world known as the Oasis. A realm where anyone can be anything, just as long as they have the imagination to do so. And the film is about a young kid who must save this world from being corrupted.

A new trailer for Ready Player One has arrived, and in it we see not only more visual references to both video games, films, and other media, but a bigger scope as to what is going to happen in the film. The plot is about the Oasis’ creator, who dies and leaves the ultimate “Easter Egg” for players to find. If they find it, they’ll have total control over the Oasis, and get a boatload of money. That causes one group to go to extreme lengths to make sure no one gets it but them.

As you see, they’re willing to kill these players, and their hopes to get their way. But because of this, the “missing generation” as they are called come together to form The Rebellion, and fight against those who want to use the Oasis for their own purposes.

The last 30 seconds or so really show just how grand the scope of Ready Player One is going to be. It’s going to be a full-on virtual war, and it’ll feature all kids of characters from all types of media, and that’s so cool.

Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that the song in the trailer is from the original Willy Wonka film, that’s pretty cool as well.

    The film arrives March 29th.

Mega Man X Games To Be Released in Collections

    Mega Man X

The end of last year saw a great month of December for Mega Man fans, with Capcom revealing Mega Man 11 during an end of year presentation. Before that, Capcom had also confirmed that there would be both Mega Man Legacy Collections coming to Nintendo Switch, and it also appears that all the Mega Man X titles will be coming to the system too.

The ratings that have surfaced in Australia seems to reveal that they will be arriving on Switch as two separate packages. And today, both Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 were given ratings by the official Classification Board.

In December last year, when these announcements were made, Capcom seemed coy as to how they would be re-releasing the Mega Man X titles on new platforms. It was unclear on whether they would release individually or as part of collections. Now, it appears that there is a confirmation of sorts that there will be two collections.

The following screenshots seem to allude that they will be as part of collections:

Meanwhile, fans will be looking forward to the 11th entry in the mainline franchise, which releases later this year, as the series maintains a massive following after all these years.
